Graduate student Luis Rivera and Professor Gui DeSouza developed an algorithm that can separate signals with specific signatures (patterns). In the case of robotic assistive technology, it will be a specific muscular activity. It can use a single electromyographic device to capture the combined activation of the muscles and yet identify what activity was being performed.
