IT instructor locally debuts Joplin documentary

Filmmaker Chip Gubera premiered his documentary “Joplin, Missouri” in Columbia with a special showing at the Ragtag Cinema on the one-year anniversary of the tornado that ripped through his hometown.

Gubera, who also works as a digital media instructor in the MU College of Engineering’s computer science IT program, debuted the 92-minute documentary, which features witness interviews and first-hand accounts from Joplin’s residents who experienced the EF-5 tornado a year ago, earlier in May at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin.

Part of the proceeds from ticket sales benefitted Rebuild Joplin.
