Computer science BS CS degree ABET accredited

Printed materials for ABET reviewers cover topics in the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology such as capstone courses, required courses, electives and more. ABET reviewers evaluated the department last fall. This is the first time the department has received ABET accreditation.

The University of Missouri College of Engineering’s Department of Computer Science is proud to announce that the Computing Accreditation Commission of ABET has accredited the college’s Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BS CS) degree program. ABET is the recognized accrediting body of college and university programs in engineering, computing, technology and applied science.

The faculty and staff have worked hard to ensure that the program meets quality standards set by the computing profession. In addition, because it requires comprehensive, periodic evaluations, this accreditation demonstrates the department’s continuing commitment to the quality of the college’s bachelor’s degree in computer science — both now and in the future. ABET accreditation is therefore a significant achievement for computer science at MU.

While the CS Department’s Bachelor of Science in Information Technology (BS IT) program is still too new for accreditation, the process will be set in motion in the near future.
