Iraq, U.S. college reps visit respective campuses

MU Engineering Dean Jim Thompson tells a story after receiving a gift from Fadhil Rasin, lead in the nanotechnology project area from the University of Technology-Baghdad.

The University of Missouri College of Engineering recently forged a stronger partnership with a delegation from the University of Technology-Baghdad. The delegates spent three weeks in Missouri visiting with various members of the MU Engineering faculty and also getting a glimpse at life in Missouri.

MU Engineering Dean Jim Thompson recently traveled to Iraq with Keshab Gangopadhyay, a research professor of electrical and computer engineering, Vlad Likholetov, MU Engineering’s director of international partnerships & initiatives, and Becky Showmaker, director of sponsored student programs for the MU International Center. MU representatives took part in a conference and career fair at UoT-Baghdad with other American universities and members of the Iraq Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the college in August.
