Bioengineering students impress at bioethics essay, poster competitions

It was a clean sweep for the University of Missouri in the 2015 Institute of Biological Engineering Bioethics Essay Competition, as well as a Students’ Choice Award in the poster competition. The awards were handed out at the IBE Awards Banquet in St. Louis recently.

Electrical engineering junior teaches firefighters to fly

Muhammad Al-Rawi, a junior electrical engineering major, spent his Spring Break teaching members of the Santa Rosa Program Protection and Fire Brigade in Costa Rica how to pilot quadcopters to aid their conservation efforts.

Chemical engineering major earns prestigious Goldwater Scholarship Award

Emily Cheng, a chemical engineering major, earned a Goldwater Scholarship Award in March, and with it, up to $7,500 to cover tuition, fees, books and room and board.

James Keller, a Curators Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science departments, recently was named an Honorary Professor by the University of Nottingham and spent time at the British university giving a pair of talks and further building relationships with other researchers.

Building Update: Relocation nearing an end, groundbreaking scheduled

Lafferre Hall renovation work continued to ramp up this last month, with plenty of pieces and people moving to facilitate the beginning of construction work, and a campus groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for April 13.

Mizzou and Russian engineering students exchange automotive racing knowledge

During Mizzou’s spring break, some MU College of Engineering students talked engineering with Russian students as nine members from MU’s SAE Formula Car and Mizzou Eco Racing teams traveled to St. Petersburg, Russia, to swap stories and expertise with students from St. Petersburg State Polytechnic University (SPBSTU).
