Acclaimed engineer, honorary consul of Peru, gives talk to MU Engineering students

Francisco Benavides, executive director for consulting services of PENTA Engineering Corp. and honorary consul of Peru in St. Louis, gave a talk called “Developing Global Leadership for Engineers” on Nov. 18 as part of International Education Week.

Francisco Benavides, executive director for consulting services of PENTA Engineering Corp. and honorary consul of Peru in St. Louis, gave a talk called “Developing Global Leadership for Engineers” on Nov. 18 as part of International Education Week.

Benavides has 40 years of experience in management, engineering and construction and has overseen the construction over several cement and lime plants for PENTA, as well as planning and engineering several hydroelectric power plants, across the globe.

According to the U.S. State Department, “International Education Week is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide.”

The event was organized by the College of Engineering International Program in collaboration with the MU International Center, and International Outreach Coordinator Miguel Ayllon said the College “plans to continue to contribute to this campus-wide tradition in 2016.”
