Alumni join forces with retiring professor to endow scholarship

In the spring of 2015 Associate Professor Paul Chan announced his retirement after 35 years on the MU chemical engineering faculty. It wasn’t an easy decision for him. He enjoys what he does, especially his work as the department’s undergraduate advisor as well as his decade-long position as chair of the College of Engineering’s scholarship committee.

MU I-Corps team receives funding

The National Science Foundation, through its Innovation Corps Teams Program, has granted funding of $50,000 for six months to Shubhra Gangopadhyay, C.W. LaPierre Chair Professor in electrical and computer engineering, and her I-Corps team. The purpose of the program is to provide NSF-funded researchers with additional funds through a competitive process to help turn scientific discoveries into commercialized projects.

Faculty member, former graduate student win K.B. Woods Award

The Transportation Research Board, a unit of the National Academies, announced Sept. 8 that an MU faculty member and a former graduate student from the College of Engineering won the K.B. Woods Award for their research paper titled “Effect of Number of Soil Strength Measurements on Reliability of Spread Footing Designs.”
