Mizzou Giving Day raises over $1.5M for engineering

Thanks to the generous support of the Mizzou family, the University of Missouri’s first-ever Mizzou Giving Day raised more than $8.2 million. The College of Engineering received 176 gifts totaling $1,525,622.

College prepares for annual Engineers’ Week celebration

The College of Engineering is getting ready for its annual Engineers’ Week celebration, March 10-18, 2017. Pre-celebration events begin at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 9, with a “Gear Up for E-Week,” hosted by the Mizzou Society of Women Engineers. E-Week officially kicks of at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, March 10, when we flip the switch to light the Jesse Hall dome green.

Mizzou Engineering and the Mizzou chapters of the National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers and Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers are joining the efforts of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and national NSBE’s 50K Coalition to graduate 50,000 diverse engineering students annually.

Mizzou SEDS rockets to first place in competition

The Mizzou chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) took home first place among 12 schools in the University Student Rocket Challenge at SEDS’ annual conference, SpaceVision2016. This year’s event was held at Purdue University the first weekend in November.

Environmental engineering alumna speaks at Ada Wilson Lecture

Civil engineering 1977 alumna Karen Flournoy has worked a 30-plus year career with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency that still is going strong. She spoke about her work as the guest speaker at the 2016 Ada Wilson Lecture and Mizzou Society of Women Engineers Green Tea.

The path that Samantha Warren’s education and career traveled repeatedly led to an ending different from the beginning. As an undergraduate, she was a math major whose studies wandered to biology, which led her to computer science for graduate school. She was a lab researcher-turned data cruncher who became a teacher.
