The Mizzou chapter of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) hosted a robotics competition, ZouMo Bot. Twelve teams competed in the first ever event. The winning team members won Syma X5C Explorer Drone.

In the MU College of Engineering, several students enthusiastically are crafting unmanned aerial vehicles of their own. MUST, or Mizzou Unmanned Systems Team, began its third semester last fall, with seven new members eager to fly UAVs of their own.

On April 18, 2015, a group of MU engineers gathered to launch a balloon from Carnahan Quad. They attached a camera to take video footage of the balloon’s ascent, flight and descent.

Problem solving and communication were big aspects of the 10th Annual Robotics Design Challenge, also known as the LEGO Challenge, which took place in the auditorium of MU’s Engineering Building West on April 11. Around 145 elementary and middle-schoolers from across Missouri came to Columbia for the event.

It was a clean sweep for the University of Missouri in the 2015 Institute of Biological Engineering Bioethics Essay Competition, as well as a Students’ Choice Award in the poster competition. The awards were handed out at the IBE Awards Banquet in St. Louis recently.
