High School Day exposes students to life as Mizzou engineers

Dozens of students descended upon Lafferre Hall on March 11 for High School Day, hosted by Mizzou Engineering Student Council (MESC). The event gives high school students from around the state an up-close-and-personal look at life inside Mizzou Engineering in a way few tours can match.

Mizzou NSBE makes mark at national convention

National conventions are key opportunities for networking, visibility, student recruitment and more for engineering student organizations. The Mizzou chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) not only maximized those opportunities, but had two members elected to prestigious regional posts at this year’s NSBE Annual Convention from March 29 to April 2 in Kansas City, Mo.

NSBE wins Chancellor’s Excellence Award for Most Improved Organization

The Mizzou chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) has had a terrific year, and the organization’s efforts were rewarded with a Chancellor’s Excellence Award for Most Improved Organization at a ceremony April 7 in the MU Student Center.

Mizzou MCAA chapter takes home two major awards

The Mizzou student chapter of the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) recently captured both the Student Chapter of the Year Award and first place out of 52 entries in the National MCAA student competition.

Mizzou SEDS rockets to first place in competition

The Mizzou chapter of Students for the Exploration and Development of Space (SEDS) took home first place among 12 schools in the University Student Rocket Challenge at SEDS’ annual conference, SpaceVision2016. This year’s event was held at Purdue University the first weekend in November.

At Mizzou, the College of Engineering’s SHPE chapter celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month, which occurs annually between Sept. 15 and Oct. 15, with a panel discussion with Latino and Latina academians in STEM fields.

Slideshow: IEEE hosts ZouMo competition

The Mizzou chapter of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) hosted a robotics competition, ZouMo Bot. Twelve teams competed in the first ever event. The winning team members won Syma X5C Explorer Drone.
