Graduate Scholarships & Assistantships
The following types of financial aid are available to Civil & Environmental Engineering graduate students: gifts (fellowships and scholarships), loans, work-study plans hourly, and graduate student assistantships (teaching or research).
Departmental Financial Aid
- Assistantships
- Teaching(TA) and Research(RA) assistantships are available.
- The number of research positions available varies with research funding.
- Contact individual faculty members in your specialty area to inquire about availability of research assistantships.
- Research and teaching assistants generally cover tuition, although students must pay incidental and activity fees.
- The assistantships provide a stipend for the student.
- Hourly Research Employment
- There is often a need for hourly student workers on research projects.
- Contact individual faculty members regarding availability of hourly research employment.
University & Other Financial Aid
- MU Scholarships and Fellowships
The Graduate School administers various non-departmental scholarships and fellowships. All pay out-of-state tuition as well as fees, some pay a stipend, the benefits of some can be added to those of assistantships, and eligibility requirements depend on the specific gift. Applications must be accompanied by GRE scores. For further information see the Student Financial Aid section of the Graduate School website. - National Direct Student Loans

- Employment arranged through the University
- Lowest pay rate is the minimum hourly wage allowed by the Commission of Education
- Ceiling of 20 hours per week.
- To be eligible you must
- be enrolled as a full-time student,
- demonstrate financial need,
- and be either a U.S. citizen or a permanent resident.
