Dr. Vikram Pattarkine Addresses the Algae World 2009 Conference

Dr. Vikram Pattarkine, Adjunct Professor of Environmental Engineering and Chief Technology Officer of OriginOil, Inc., addressed the Algae World 2009 Conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on April 27, 2009.

Dr. Pattarkine delivered a key session entitled, “Algae for Fuel: Promises and Challenges,” during which he discussed specific technology issues and solutions to challenges within the industry, as well as OriginOil’s standardized approach to algae production and commercialization.

In March Dr. Pattarkine spoke at the Asian Development Bank’s Annual Developing Member Countries Sanitation Dialogue on how algae could be integrated into wastewater treatment applications. He also discussed with ADB specialists how OriginOil’s technology could be aligned with the Bank’s Carbon Fund, which provides capital to buy carbon credits at the outset of clean energy projects.

Algae World 2009 was a two-day conference dedicated towards providing objective insights on the commercial production of algae, with an in-depth focus on the latest advances and constraints in algae cultivation, harvesting and processing. The event served as a platform for the algae community to meet, pinpoint and discuss key strategies adopted by successful algae businesses in integrating future and upcoming trends into their business value chains.
