MU ASCE GeoWall Team Takes Regional Championship

The MU ASCE GeoWall Team captured its second consecutive regional championship at the American Society of Civil Engineers student conference at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale on Friday, April 17, 2009. MU’s team of Chelsea Smith, Tyler McKee, Ploi Intaratip and Daniel Huaco took first place in the competition consisting of the design, construction and performance loading of a mechanically stabilized wall using only posterboard for the wall face and Kraft paper as the reinforcing elements. The competition was extremely close with the MU ASCE team earning 107 points with Kansas State coming in second wit a score of 99 points. This is on the heels of their 3rd national championship which they captured on Mary 11, 2009.
