Teaching tool ‘instrumental’ in revamped introduction course

A new learning tool for freshmen taking the introductory course to electrical and computer engineering (ECE 1000) will teach them basic programming and problem solving skills, and it also may help them cover songs originated by Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones.

Associate professor named interim chair of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department

University of Missouri College of Engineering Associate Professor Scott Kovaleski was appointed as interim chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, effective Jan. 1, 2013.

ECE Professor Marjorie Skubic stands inside Tiger Place, a Columbia-based Americare independent living facility, where she and collaborators are testing their eldercare monitoring devices. Skubic has received numerous grants for the project, including one recently-awarded from the White House's US Ignite initiative.
