A letter from MESC

Dear Prospective Student,

Mizzou Engineering High School Weekend is hosted by Mizzou Engineering Student Council (MESC) a student organization that represents the students in the College of Engineering. MESC members are mediators between administration and students, and deals with current issues within the College.
Dear prospective college student:

You are undoubtedly researching colleges and are trying to decide which one to attend. A great way to find out more about Mizzou and the College of Engineering is to attend our Fall High School Weekend this October 17th and 18th. Due to great success of previous High School Weekends, we have expanded the opportunity to bi-annual event, so that more students can benefit from this great opportunity. This weekend is hosted by the Mizzou Engineering Student Council and is geared toward providing students an exciting look at the many facets of engineering and a glimpse of college life at the University of Missouri. This weekend experience is intended to help students make informed decisions in answering questions such as “What college or university should I attend?” and “Is a career in engineering for me?”

Engineering High School Weekend is offered to high school juniors and seniors who have shown an interest in the College of Engineering. The cost is $45, which includes all food and activities. You will stay with current engineering freshmen in the dorms Friday night. You will participate in a several design challenges geared toward providing a preview into each engineering discipline, go to the Mizzou Rec Center, and have opportunity to meet with current and prospective engineering students.

Since there is limited space available (due to overnight accommodations for the students), students will be accepted based on the postmark date on their registration form. If you have any questions, please contact us at meschighschoolweekend@gmail.com. You can also visit the College of Engineering website for more information and to download registration forms at http://engineering.missouri.edu/k-12/. Click on “High School Weekend”.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you take advantage of this great opportunity. I look forward to seeing you at Mizzou’s Engineering High School Weekend 2008.
