It is noted that the “Aerospace Emphasis” is upgraded and replaced by the Minor in Aerospace Engineering. Therefore, the “Aerospace Emphasis” is only available to students who entered MAE before the Fall Semester 2012.

In order to receive “Aerospace Emphasis” on their transcript, students must take 3 MAE electives from the aerospace area courses listed below.

Structures/materials

  • MAE 4210 – Aerospace Structures
  • MAE 4280 – Introduction to FEM
  • MAE 4600 – Advanced Mechanics of Materials
  • MAE 4920 – Advanced Computational Design

Thermal/propulsion

  • MAE 4320 – Design of Thermal Systems
  • MAE 4390 – Aerospace Propulsion

Aerodynamics/fluids

  • MAE 4440 – Aerodynamics
  • MAE 4450 – Gas Dynamics

Flight mechanics/dynamics/controls

  • MAE 4620 – Aircraft Flight Mechanics
  • MAE 4630 – Space Flight Mechanics
  • MAE 4720 – Modern Control

Design

  • MAE 4001 – Aircraft Design
  • MAE 4995 – Honors Research
      • A proposed research topic should be certified by the Director of Honors Research as appropriate for Aerospace Emphasis.
