Pinar Akcora is an assistant professor in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Missouri. Prior to coming to MU in 2008, she worked as a post-doctoral research scientist at Columbia University in New York for three years. Her research interests are in exploring the structure-property relationships of polymer nanocomposites from nano to mesoscale. She also focuses on the synthesis of novel diblock copolymer/metal oxide hybrids and on developing new strategies for the self-assembly of nanoparticles. Using various tools such as scattering, microscopy and rheology, Ackora additionally concentrates on understanding the dynamics of polymeric materials as they relate to structural information.
