Praveen Edara is an Assistant Professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering department at the University of Missouri. He teaches and conducts research in areas of traffic operations, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), safety, work zones and traffic simulation. Prior to joining MU, he worked as a research scientist for the Virginia Transportation Research Council (VTRC) conducting research for Virginia DOT on ITS and traffic engineering projects. Prior to that he worked as a research contractor at Turner Fairbanks Highway Research Center (TFHRC) of the Federal Highway Administration performing research in traffic operations and safety. Currently, he is involved in sponsored research for Missouri DOT, Virginia DOT, and Federal Highway Adminstration’s Smart Work Zone Pooled Fund. He serves as a member on two Transportation Research Board committees — the User Information Systems committee, and the Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing committee — and is a friend of the Intelligent Transportation Systems committee and the Work Zone Traffic Control committee.
