Steven Devlin Extension Program Director — Business Development Program
Steven L. Devlin has a joint appointment as the University of Missouri Extension Business Development Program director and the Assistant Dean for Entrepreneurship in the MU College of Engineering. Devlin leads a $10.4 million statewide program that includes the Missouri Small Business & Technology Development Centers, Missouri Procurement Technical Assistance Centers, Mid-America Trade Adjustment Assistance Center, Environmental Assistance Center and the Workforce Program.
Before joining the BDP in early 2013, Devlin played a variety of roles at the Iowa State University Center for Industrial Research and Service, where he most recently led the Manufacturing Extension Partnership. He holds a bachelor’s degree industrial science and a master’s degree in industrial technology. He is nearing completion of his doctorate from Iowa State University in industrial education and technology.
Devlin’s research interests include bio-polymers and bio-composites, the biobased products industry and rapid prototyping. As the son of an Extension professional, he has a deep appreciation for the roles played by the land-grant university, extension and higher education in regional economic development.
