Praveen Edara Associate Professor, P.E.


Praveen Edara is an associate professor in the Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at the University of Missouri. He teaches and conducts research in the areas of freeway traffic operations, intelligent transportation systems, geometric design, traffic safety, work zone driver behavior and traffic simulation. Prior to joining MU, he worked as a research scientist for the Virginia Transportation Research Council, conducting research for the Virginia Department of Transportation in intelligent transportation systems and traffic engineering. Before VTRC, he worked as a research contractor at the Turner Fairbanks Highway Research Center of the Federal Highway Administration, performing research in traffic operations, alternative designs and safety. Currently, he is involved in sponsored research for the Missouri Department of Transportation, VDOT and the Federal Highway Administration. He currently serves as a member of the Work Zone Traffic Control Committee and Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Computing Committee of the Transportation Research Board of National Academies. He is a registered professional engineer in Missouri and a certified professional traffic operations engineer.
