Center for Computational Biology & Medicine

The Center for Computational Biology and Medicine is led by Professor Chi-Ren Shyu, Paul K. and Dianne Shumaker Endowed Professor in computer science and director of the MU Informatics Institute.

This interdisciplinary center leverages the nationally recognized expertise of researchers in the MU College of Engineering, School of Medicine, Life Sciences Center, Interdisciplinary Plant Group and School of Nursing.

This diverse team addresses research problems in bioinformatics and health informatics. Faculty and students develop computer software to streamline the understanding of biological and medical problems using advanced algorithms in artificial intelligence, data-mining, databases, high performance computing, information retrieval and machine learning.
