Bioengineering, mechanical engineering students take top honors at spring undergraduate research forum
Two bioengineering students and a mechanical engineering student were recognized for Chancellor’s Awards for excellence at the 2015 Spring Undergraduate Research and Creative Achievements Forum.
It was a clean sweep for the University of Missouri in the 2015 Institute of Biological Engineering Bioethics Essay Competition, as well as a Students’ Choice Award in the poster competition. The awards were handed out at the IBE Awards Banquet in St. Louis recently.
Muhammad Al-Rawi, a junior electrical engineering major, spent his Spring Break teaching members of the Santa Rosa Program Protection and Fire Brigade in Costa Rica how to pilot quadcopters to aid their conservation efforts.
Emily Cheng, a chemical engineering major, earned a Goldwater Scholarship Award in March, and with it, up to $7,500 to cover tuition, fees, books and room and board.
Officials from the University of Missouri, UM System and MU College of Engineering joined members of the Missouri Legislature and other luminaries for a groundbreaking ceremony on April 13 at Lafferre Hall.
James Keller, a Curators Professor in the Electrical and Computer Engineering and Computer Science departments, recently was named an Honorary Professor by the University of Nottingham and spent time at the British university giving a pair of talks and further building relationships with other researchers.
Lafferre Hall renovation work continued to ramp up this last month, with plenty of pieces and people moving to facilitate the beginning of construction work, and a campus groundbreaking ceremony is scheduled for April 13.
