Mizzou Engineering Pantry now open in Lafferre Hall
Mizzou Engineering students, faculty and staff now have better access to needed food, household and hygiene products. The College opened a pantry in Lafferre Hall in partnership with Tiger Pantry.
“It is open to all (Mizzou) students, faculty, and staff. It is located in the College of Engineering for improved access and visibility for Engineering students,” said Cassandra Siela, senior international programs & recruitment consultant for the College. Siela, Hilary Mueller, Brandon Guffey and Jason Huddleston are the Engineering staff members that lead the effort.
Engineering students, staff and faculty had to go to Tiger Pantry’s Hitt Street Garage location for necessary items before this location opened.
Also, the College provided both a room and the financial support to purchase household and hygiene items.
Tiger Pantry’s incredible work inspired Siela and other staff members, and a desire to serve students.
“We hope it will provide additional support for those experiencing loss of personal and family income,” Siela said. “We further hope it inspires students, faculty, and staff who are able to support Tiger Pantry to do so.”
“Tiger Pantry has stayed open through this incredibly difficult and uncertain time, supporting our students and community. The College’s efforts is just a small fraction of what Tiger Pantry is able to do,” Siela said.
Direct donations to Tiger Pantry’s central location can be made here. Those wishing to support the Mizzou Engineering Pantry may email ENGRinclusivity@missouri.edu. To support international students who cannot access domestic funding sources like the CARES Act, donations can be made to the International Center’s International Student and Scholar Fund.
The pantry launched Aug. 17 and is in Lafferre Hall. It is open Mondays and Tuesdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.; and Thursdays 2 to 6 p.m. while classes are in session.
