Welcome to Biomedical, Biological & Chemical Engineering (BBCE) at Mizzou!
The departments of Bioengineering & Chemical Engineering joined together in 2018 to form the Biomedical, Biological & Chemical Engineering Department, allowing for greater benefits to University of Missouri students and new avenues for collaboration on cutting-edge research at MU. The department offers three distinct undergraduate degrees as well as multiple graduate degrees.
- B.S. in Biomedical Engineering
- B.S. in Biological Engineering
- B.S. in Chemical Engineering
- M.S. in Biological Engineering
- M.S. (Non-Thesis) in Biological Engineering
- M.S. in Chemical Engineering
- Ph.D. in Biological Engineering
- Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering
Pairing these disciplines breaks down the walls that inhibit collaboration, leading to potentially groundbreaking research results. In turn, these world-class projects benefit our students in terms of undergraduate and graduate research opportunities. This tremendously impacts two of the College’s four Pillars of Pursuit — Biomedical Innovations and Sustainability inFEWSed (Food, Energy, Water, Smart Cities).
The fields of energy, biofuels, biotechnology, biomaterials, pharmaceuticals, biomedical technology, plant science, veterinary medicine and countless others rely on engineers and scientists from a variety of backgrounds who possess a wide array of skillsets. The BBCE Department helps bring students and researchers from a variety of backgrounds together to train and discover on the cutting edge of all of these fields.
MU’s world-renowned Biomedical, Biological & Chemical Engineering faculty are at the forefront of groundbreaking research and innovative solutions to the world’s problems. Focusing on a multidisciplinary approach to teaching, they challenge students to explore and collaborate across disciplines.
