CAVE to Provide Immersive Virtual Experience

Imagine studying a protein by walking through its three-dimensional structure. Or researching traffic patterns by standing alongside a virtual highway. Or safely exploring the structural integrity of a house while it’s on fire. Mizzou Engineers will soon have the capability to do these things, thanks to a CAVE opening this year in Lafferre Hall.

Interactive Digital Environments Lab Benefits Faculty, Students

An innovative new lab now open in Lafferre Hall will benefit both faculty and students at Mizzou Engineering. The Interactive Digital Environments Lab will allow instructors to record high-quality lectures and demonstrations. For Information Technology students, the lab provides the opportunity to gain hands-on experience.

In the Fight to Contain COVID-19, MU Makes its Own Testing Swabs

The new 3D printers at the University of Missouri College of Engineering have been given colorful nicknames, ranging from the enticing PiquantPelican to the down-and-dirty FreshSlug. The nicknames are fitting, because the printers are cranking out a product that is highly coveted for an unpleasant task — coronavirus testing swabs.

Manring Named Interim Dean of the College of Engineering

University of Missouri Provost Latha Ramchand today announced that Noah Manring, the Glen Barton Professor and chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, has been named the Interim Dean of the MU College of Engineering. He will begin interim dean duties immediately and join outgoing Dean Elizabeth Loboa in decision making to provide for a smooth leadership transition.

The National Academy of Inventors (NAI) recently launched a national campaign that recognizes Mizzou’s innovative culture. NAI chose MU to host the kickoff due to our university’s past successes in supporting early-stage innovations.
