Meet with your Global Engineers

Our global engineers serve as peer advisors and mentors who are study abroad returnees.  They can offer preliminary advice and program details to anyone interested in learning more about studying abroad.  Students interested in studying abroad with a College of Engineering program are encouraged to meet with one or more of our global engineers to learn more.  Find out more about our global engineers below

Major: Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics

Which program(s) did you participate in? ENGR Leadership 3000 & Thermodynamics in Italy

What is your favorite memory from your time abroad? My favorite memory was actually in the classroom. We all connected really well and were each other’s support through the whole class. By the end I had a whole new network of friends and peers in and out of the classroom!

What is the best piece of advice you would give another student considering studying abroad? Do it! It’s such a unique experience and this may be your only opportunity to spend an extended amount of time abroad!

Which program(s) did you participate in? Engineering Global Leadership and Circuit Theory in Italy

What is your favorite memory from your time abroad? Visiting the Lamborghini Museum and production floor!

What is the best piece of advice you would give another student considering studying abroad? Don’t be afraid to push yourself outside of your comfort zone. It’s one of the best ways to learn about yourself!

Which program(s) did you participate in? Peru (Winter session)

What is your favorite memory from your time abroad? Playing volleyball on the floating islands with the natives. It was incredible how two completely different groups were able to bond over sports.

What is the best piece of advice you would give another student considering studying abroad? If you have the slightest interest in study abroad, look into it and just go for it. You won’t regret it.

Which program(s) did you participate in? Thermo II; Milan, Italy

What is your favorite memory from your time abroad? My favorite memory from study abroad time in Italy was taking the train to Lake Como and hiking up a mountain to see my first castle! Plus, gelato all day every day!!!

What is the best piece of advice you would give another student considering studying abroad? Check out the scholarship opportunities and put those deadlines in your calendar! There are so many available, take some time and apply to as many as possible. It will be worth it, they can really make a difference!

Which program(s) did you participate in? Italy 6-week ENGR 3000 and Thermodynamics in 2018.

What is your favorite memory from your time abroad? My favorite experience from my time abroad was being in Croatia for one of my weekend trips and watching a World Cup game with the local people. It was so awesome to see their passion for their country and realize how similar people are around the world are while watching sports!

What is the best piece of advice you would give another student considering studying abroad? Take the chance and travel now! You’re never going to have as much free time as you do while you’re in college. Getting the chance to travel with a group of other young people is a once in a lifetime chance, and also much more affordable than traveling alone. Plus, you get to knock out some credits!
