Career Exploration

A young woman shakes hands with a recruiter.

At Mizzou, we want to give you the space to explore all the opportunities available within the College of Engineering.

Career Fair

The MU College of Engineering presents two career fairs each academic year – one in the fall and one in the spring. A career fair is often the first opportunity students have to meet potential employers. More than 200 companies will be on hand to recruit for full-time positions as well as internships. It is important that students dress professionally and are prepared with a current resume. Employers will note appearance, preparedness and professionalism.

Leadership Academy

The Academy offers you a variety of opportunities for students to expand their perspectives, grow leadership skills and enhance their competitiveness for employment. Students will have many opportunities to interact with other students and engineering professionals.  The Academy is also the source for enhanced career services, such as job search assistance, resume reviews, mock interviews and professional development.

Engineering 1000

This course will help students identify a field of engineering that they will pursue during the remainder of their studies at MU. This objective will be achieved by exposing students to the history of our engineering disciplines, and by giving an overview of the individual departments within the college of engineering. Students will hear from industry professionals, complete projects that highlight each major, and compete in an Engineering Olympics challenge at the end of semester.

Academic Exploration and Advising Services

Our mission is to work collaboratively with students to help them develop and accomplish academic and life goals. The advisor and student work together to find a fit between the student’s interests and abilities and what the university has to offer. Ultimately, students learn to navigate through and take full advantage of the university.
