Jinn-Kuen Chen is Professor Emeritus and was the William and Nancy Thompson Distinguished Professor from 2005 to 2017, in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Department at the University of Missouri. Chen worked for the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico, between 1993 and 2005. He was the technical adviser for the Laser Effects Research Branch of the Air Force Research Laboratory at Kirtland in 2004 and 2005, and he also served as a research adviser for the National Research Council in Washington, D.C., from 2000-2005. Before he joined the Air Force Research Laboratory, Chen worked for General Electric Aircraft Engines in Ohio and General Motors’ Gas Turbine Division in Indiana.
