Larry David, Professor Emeritus
Industrial & Manufacturing Systems Engineering
Larry David is a professor emeritus and retired department chair of the Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering Department at the University of Missouri College of Engineering. David worked in the College’s then-Industrial Engineering Department for three years beginning in 1961, during which time the IE program received its initial accreditation by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). After leaving to pursue his doctorate, David returned to MU in 1968, where remained on the faculty of the industrial engineering department until his retirement in September 2000.
In June 1990, he was appointed interim chair of the department and became the permanent chair in 1991 until his retirement.
David was very active throughout his career as an expert witness for product liability and slips and fall cases giving more than 150 depositions and approximately 20 court appearances. He was able to take the information from these litigations and incorporate them into his courses in human factors.
David has been a volunteer for ABET, representing the Institute of Industrial Engineers for over 20 years and continues to work with the IMSE Department to retain its accreditation.
