Xinhua Zhuang is Emeritus Professor of EECS at the University of Missouri – Columbia. His research areas include computer vision, fundamentals of deep learning, and artificial intelligence in arts. Zhuang’s work in morphological image processing and wavelet image coding is particularly notable. He has received research grants from NSF, NIH, NATO and NASA, etc. Zhuang has served the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) in a number of positions, including general chair of ICME 2004 and 2007 as well as general chair of MMSP 2005. He is Life Fellow of IEEE and Fellow of AGARD (the Advisory Group for Aerospace Research and Development). He has numerous publications including 42 IEEE transaction papers and nine book chapters.
