Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering Professor Sanjeev Khanna, Director of the Midwest Industrial Assessment Center, recently presented a one-week long national workshop in Allahabad, India on “Materials Behavior and Characterization under Dynamic Loading Conditions.”

Building bridges in Botswana
Benjamin Steger and his fellow cadets in the U.S. Army ROTC Cadet Coalition Warfighter Program had been allowed passage into a federally protected tribal territory in Botswana to spend the night under the stars. That night, the tribe, with over 200 children eager to play with the cadets, decided to keep Steger and his companions engaged. Together, they played Frisbee, soccer, sang and showed each other dances, from traditional tribal dances to The Floss — a popular dance move in the U.S.

Building skills by building a better tomorrow
Engineering majors joined the roughly 60 Mizzou students who participated in Veritas Mizzou’s Won by One to Jamaica mission trip over spring break. The group worked alongside the local community of Harmons, Jamaica, to aid the less fortunate with home construction and more.

Mizzou Engineering hosts annual China Night celebration
The College of Engineering hosted its annual China Night on Tuesday, Feb. 26, to bring in the Chinese New Year and honor Chinese heritage. Held in Ketcham Auditorium, more than 50 attendees saw performances, ate traditional Chinese cuisine and competed in a lively trivia game. The performances by MU’s Confucius Institute included Tai Chi and Shaolin boxing demonstrations, as well as a round fan dance.
