The fourth year of the MU College of Engineering’s Big Data Analytics Summer Experience was its biggest yet. More than 70 eager students of various levels of computer science background attended.
The MU College of Engineering’s Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) recently wrapped up its 10-week summer session, with brilliant students from around the country completing work on cutting-edge computer science projects.
The first edition of the STEM Cubs Summer Camp took place on July 8 at the University of Missouri. Participants had the opportunity to work on engaging hands-on activities, including designing a skateboard ramp, building string phones and developing methods to help small animals safely cross the street.
The students — many from Missouri but some from as far away as Washington — heard presentations from each of the College’s departments and worked on hands-on projects designed to give students a taste of what each discipline specializes in.
Martha Gahl, an electrical engineering major, recently was accepted to participate in a summer program with the Center for the Neural Basis of Cognition in Pittsburgh.
