MU Research Reactor
Scientists at the University of Missouri Research Reactor (MURR®) conduct groundbreaking research and collaborate with industry partners to develop unique products, including lifesaving radiopharmaceuticals, including its prominence as a producer of medical isotopes. Operating at 10 megawatts, the facility is the highest-power university research reactor in the United States, and is an essential resource for researchers, scientists, engineers, students and industry partners.

Payne Energy Innovation Center
The Payne Energy Innovation Center, coming in 2028, will bring together research centers and institutes in the materials-energy-information nexus. The organization of the building itself expresses Mizzou’s larger strategy: energy production cannot be separated from the materials, computing systems, infrastructure and policy required to make it dependable.

NextGen MURR
NextGen MURR is the University of Missouri’s transformational initiative to build a new 20-megawatt, state-of-the-art reactor. The new research reactor will expand critical medical isotope research and production for cancer treatments and theranostics. This project will build on the internationally recognized excellence of the 10 MW MU Research Reactor (MURR), the only U.S. producer of four medical isotopes used in lifesaving treatments for liver, thyroid, pancreatic and prostate cancer.
