Biography
Khaza Anuarul Hoque is an associate professor in the David L. Payne Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Missouri, where he directs the Dependable Cyber-Physical Systems (DCPS) Laboratory. He received his MS and PhD degrees from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, in 2011 and 2016, respectively. Prior to joining MU, he was a postdoctoral research fellow at the University of Oxford in the UK. His research interests include energy-efficient and trustworthy AI/GenAI hardware; AI safety, security, privacy; formal methods; and cyber-physical systems. His research projects have received generous funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF), the Army Research Laboratory (ARL), the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), NVIDIA, and the Navy Research Laboratory (NRL). Professor Hoque has received several awards and distinctions, including the 2026 IEEE DATE best paper award, 2025 IEEE ISMAR best paper award, 2023 IEEE/ACM MEMOCODE Best Paper nomination, the FQRNT Postdoctoral Fellowship Award (2016), the FQRNT Doctoral Research Award (2012), and Best Paper Award at the 8th IEEE International NEWCAS Conference (2011). He is a senior member of IEEE and ACM, a member of AAAS, a member of the IEEE Technical Committee on Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS), and an Associate Editor of the ACM Transactions on Probabilistic Machine Learning (TOPML).
