Seniors in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Mizzou conclude their coursework with a semester-long capstone project. These capstone projects allow students to apply what they’ve learned in their classes and work together in teams to study real world challenges.
The experience gives students the hands-on preparation they need to be successful after graduation.
Below are the EECS capstone projects from the Fall 2021 semester.
Computer Science Capstone Team 1
Project: 3D Mapping with Spot
Team Members: Nic Chiolerio, Drew Amsden, Alec Glascock, Conrad Bucholtz, Nick Allegretti, Sarah Sherman
Objective: Construct 3D environments for use with VR using Spot as a moving base and a Livox Horizon lidar camera.
Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Capstone Team 1
Project: Portable Electronic Self-Leveling Surface
Team Members: Jack Faron, Weijie Ma, Jonathan France, Derek Johnson
Objective: Create a portable self-leveling surface.
Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Capstone Team 2
Project: Ensuring Mowing Efficiency Using Optical Sensors
Team Members: Dane Steinhauer, John Borgmeyer, Luke Warman, Sarah Holmes
Objective: Using optical sensors to measure if users are mowing a lawn efficiently.
Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Capstone Team 3
Project: Remote Controlled System for the Safe Retrieval of Radioactive Materials from Hazardous Environments
Team Members: James Bagshaw, Tracy Colbert, Nicholas Martino, Jackson Moeller
Objective: Build an electric vehicle that will retrieve radioactive targets.
Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Capstone Team 4
Project: Temperature Monitoring Car Seat to Enhance Child Safety
Team Members: Jack Bauer, Spencer Brown, Bailey Shepherd, James Ward
Objective: Develop a car seat that monitors temperature.
Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering Capstone Team 5
Project: System for Tracking the Sun for Array of Multiple Solar Panels Using Light-Sensitive Resistors
Team Members: Chad France, Myungki Jung, Maxwell Willoughby
Objective: Create a solar tracking system that moves panels along the sun to maximize the system’s electricity production.
