Wen-Hsin Chen, Samrat Kumar Dey, Jeong Wook Lee and Alina Rohulia won the competition in the exciting challenges of abstraction and reasoning in AI.

The T[AI]ger Roar team of Wen-Hsin Chen, Samrat Kumar Dey, Jeong Wook Lee and Alina Rohulia won first place and $2,000 in the 2025 Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) Mizzou Hackathon Nov. 16. Second place and $1,000 went to Upasana Roy and Gourab Nandi; third place and $500 to Akbarjon Kamoldinov and Khadichakhon Nurakhmedova.
Inspired by the ARC Prize competition, established by Mizzou Engineering alumnus and Zapier co-founder Mike Knoop (BS ME ’12), the weekend-long event brought together 12 teams to take on the exciting challenges of abstraction and reasoning in artificial intelligence (AI). Knoop addressed participants at the beginning of the weekend hackathon, sharing his insights and answering questions.
The 2025 AGI Mizzou Hackathon was designed to be a bridge between classroom learning, research and community engagement. It created a collaborative environment in which students could apply AI fundamentals to a problem.

Participating students also had the opportunity to attend a Mizzou ARC Prize 2025 Workshop Oct. 22 and hear from top performers from the ARC Prize competition. Watch the ARC Prize workshop recording.

Tech company Amazon provided participants with more than $24,000 in cloud-computing service credits and held an event to introduce them to Amazon Web Services.
