Mizzou Engineering senior Ashton Wooster has received a Remington R. Williams Award, the UM System’s highest student leadership award.
Wooster is pursuing bachelor’s degrees in electrical engineering and information technology with a cumulative GPA of 4.0. He is also president of the Mizzou Computing Association (MCA) and a vice president of the Mizzou Engineering Student Council (MESC).
“It is an incredible honor to receive the Remington R. Williams Award,” he said. “It represents to me the support the university has shown for extending the reach of our STEM programs.”
Wooster acknowledged the support of MCA advisor James Ries and MESC Roger Fales, his mentor Chi-Ren Shyu, and the executive teams he has worked with.
“It’s amazing to see the work we’ve all put towards making our university even better come to fruition,” he said.
Shyu, Mizzou Engineering associate dean for graduate education and strategic initiatives, called Wooster a well-rounded undergraduate.
“Ashton consistently operates at a level comparable to advanced graduate students, contributing original ideas, engaging deeply with complex technical concepts and collaborating effectively across disciplinary boundaries,” he said.
Mizzou Engineering Dean Marisa Chrysochoou expressed her pride in Wooster’s achievement.
“This is another example of the kind of leadership we so often see from Mizzou Engineers,” she said. “It’s an honor have the opportunity to contribute to the development of champions like Ashton.”
