Mizzou Engineering students were ready and eager to seize opportunities with a wide range of companies, organizations and industries.

Leading employers know that Mizzou Engineering graduates possess practical know-how, next-level skills and hands-on experience with the latest technology — everything they need to meet today’s toughest challenges.

That’s why 145 businesses, government agencies and corporations flocked to campus March 5 to meet the next generation of engineering leaders at the Mizzou Engineering Spring Career Fair.

They weren’t disappointed. Nearly 800 students filled MizzouRec, resumes in hand, elevator pitches polished, ready to make lasting impressions and land internships, co-ops and jobs.

Civil engineering major Gillian Barrett was looking for summer co-ops and internships as well as a full-time job after she graduates in December with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a Geographic Information Systems certificate.

Barrett was especially eager to meet with Kimley-Horn, Civil Design Inc. and Bax Engineering.

“A lot of my work experience has been in site development and water resources,” she said. “I’m really interested in survey data and working with that and working with maps.”

Mechanical engineering sophomore Santiago Calle was looking for more experience in the mechanical design field.

Calle was planning to talk to the Missouri Department of Transportation, the Illinois Department of Transportation and Black and Veatch

“My primary interest is to go into prosthetics,” he said. “But I’m open to anything and I want to learn more about the industry.”

The wide range of companies, organizations and industries at the fair reflected Mizzou Engineering’s laser focus on providing opportunities for students to become leaders and champions.
