Glenn Washer has been named the new director of the Missouri Center for Transportation Innovation (MCTI).

Washer is a James C. Dowell Fellow and professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on nondestructive evaluation technologies for damage detection, the reliability of inspection technologies and risk-based bridge inspection.
Washer brings almost 35 years of experience in structures. His leadership of federally funded projects is a tremendous asset to MCTI, as expanding research funding sources continues to be a growing priority.
MCTI brings together leading transportation experts, equipment, facilities and technology to transform Missouri’s infrastructure. Since 2019, nearly $26 million in funding has been secured.
Washer steps into a role recently occupied by John Myers, a professor at Missouri University of Science and Technology (S&T).
“It’s been an honor leading Missouri’s statewide transportation center over the past three years and working so closely with our founding director, Dr. Bill Buttlar, the entire MCTI leadership team and staff since our formation in 2019,” Myers said. “The center is in great hands transitioning the MCTI directorship role to Dr. Washer, and I am looking forward to working with him more closely serving the S&T campus and as immediate past director on the MCTI Executive Committee.”
