Bart Prorok

Biography

Bart Prorok is Professor and Chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Missouri. His research focuses on additive manufacturing, experimental mechanics, advanced materials characterization, X-ray computed tomography and the mechanics of materials across multiple length scales. Prior to joining Mizzou, he served as Program Chair of Materials Engineering at Auburn University, where he led significant growth in research, faculty development and academic programs. Dr. Prorok has authored more than 90 peer-reviewed publications and has received numerous national and international honors, including the 2025 Sia Nemat-Nasser Medal from the Society for Experimental Mechanics. He is committed to advancing research excellence, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and preparing the next generation of engineers through innovative education and mentorship.
