ChBME - Chair | Chemical and Biomedical Engineering
Biography
Jennifer Fiegel is a professor and the chair of the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at the University of Missouri. Her bench research focuses on developing advanced drug delivery systems, particularly inhalable and sprayable therapeutics, to treat bacterial infections affecting the respiratory system and skin. She brings over two decades of experience in aerosol science, drug formulation, and understanding how materials interact with biological environments, in collaboration with researchers across engineering and the health sciences.
In parallel, Fiegel leads innovative engineering education research centered on how students learn, think, and make ethical decisions. Her work emphasizes the integration of cognitive and metacognitive strategies into engineering instruction, along with the development of faculty and teaching assistants as reflective educators. Through both her technical and educational research, she is committed to interdisciplinary collaboration and preparing the next generation of engineers to create meaningful impact.
