Richard Byfield

Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering

Biography

Richard Byfield is an assistant teaching professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Missouri. Prior to joining the University of Missouri faculty, he served as director of mechatronics at Moberly Area Community College. His research has focused on applying machine learning techniques for the control and optimization of intelligent systems. His academic and professional interests include engineering technology, mechatronics, industrial automation, robotics and machine learning. In his current role, he leads the development and growth of Mizzou’s Engineering Technology program, including curriculum development, industry and educational partnerships, student recruitment and hands-on engineering education.
