Biography
Wenchao Ge is an associate professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Before joining Mizzou in July 2026, he was an associate professor in the Department of Physics at the University of Rhode Island (URI).
Ge is leading a Quantum Engineering Research Group, focusing on both the fundamental theories and the engineering techniques in quantum information science. The main goal of Ge’s research is to push the frontiers of these fields by analyzing fundamental limits in different scenarios, studying novel quantum-enhanced devices and exploring optimal procedures for implementation. His expertise includes engineering approaches in quantum information science and quantum education. He holds one U.S. patent and has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, including Physical Reviews, Nature Physics and Nature Photonics. He has received four NSF awards, including an NSF CAREER Award and an NSF ExpandQISE Award. He is the recipient of the 2025 URI Early Career Faculty Research and Scholarship Excellence Award in Life Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering.
