Become an Engineering Tutor

Tutoring is more than just helping someone solve an equation. It’s about empowering your peers, developing leadership skills and shaping the culture of collaboration within Mizzou Engineering.

As a tutor, you become a trusted guide in another student’s academic journey. You’ll gain hands-on experience in communication, mentoring, problem-solving and professionalism, skills that look great on any resume and translate directly into the workplace. Whether you’re considering a career in industry, teaching, or research, tutoring equips you with the skills to lead with clarity, care and confidence.

Why become a tutor?

  • Lead by example: serve as a mentor and role model in the Mizzou Engineering community, helping peers build confidence and overcome academic challenges.
  • Build your professional toolkit: strengthen your communication, leadership and problem-solving skills — essential assets in any engineering career.
  • Sharpen your own understanding: reinforce your technical knowledge by teaching others and seeing material from new perspectives.
  • Earn while you learn: get paid for your time while making a meaningful impact in the academic success of fellow students.
  • Boost your resume: gain valuable experience that demonstrates initiative, service and interpersonal skills, perfect for future internships, job interviews, or grad school applications.
