Hessam Yazdani, an associate professor of civil and environmental engineering at the University of Missouri, has been recognized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) with a certificate acknowledging his distinguished achievements in engineering mechanics.
Yazdani received the prestigious ASME Rising Star of Mechanical Engineering honor at the 2024 International Mechanical Engineering Congress and Exposition (IMECE) in Portland, Oregon.
This recognition highlights Yazdani’s innovative contributions to engineering, particularly in advanced materials, geotechnical engineering, and optimization. As the director of the Smart Infrastructure, Geotechnics, and Materials (SIGMa) Research Lab at Mizzou, Yazdani has made significant strides in developing integrated multiscale mechanics frameworks spanning the atomic structure of matter to large-scale infrastructure systems.
“I am deeply honored to receive this recognition from ASME,” Yazdani said. “It’s gratifying to see our research efforts advance the profession and inspire the next generation of engineers. This award amplifies my commitment to pushing the boundaries of innovation and conducting rigorous, impactful research in fundamental and applied engineering to tackle pressing global challenges.”
IMECE, ASME’s flagship annual event, brings together researchers from academia, government, and industry to share innovations across engineering disciplines.
