Mizzou Racing, the Formula SAE team at the University of Missouri, is dedicated to designing and building high-performance racecars for international competitions. Members are driven by the quest to develop the best car, and every year, they embody the Missouri Method to give members hands-on learning experience.
This year, the Mizzou Racing team earned top honors at Formula SAE Michigan this May by placing first in the Skidpad Event, tying with Purdue University, and achieving 22nd place overall out of 120 teams. Skidpad, where teams are judged on their cornering ability, is an event in which the team has historically performed well, with the team placing second a year ago.
“The competition was super exciting because we were able to see how we stacked up against schools from across the world,” Anshu Giliyaru, a first-year team member and electrical and computer engineering student, said. “Around 120 teams participated in events including acceleration, skidpad, autocross and endurance.”
The team placed 22nd overall—the highest among Missouri schools—as well as ninth in endurance.
Participation in Mizzou Racing provides students with practical experience in design, manufacturing, and engineering communications, preparing them for successful careers in a variety of engineering and leadership fields.
