The University of Missouri College of Engineering mourns the passing of Ron Wood (BS EE ’64), a distinguished alumnus and steadfast supporter of Mizzou Engineering. Ron passed away on July 15, 2025, at the age of 84.
Over an impressive 42-year career at Black & Veatch, Ron rose to the role of President and CEO of B&V Energy, earning national respect as a leader in the engineering field. Throughout his career he remained deeply connected to his alma mater, most recently helping guide the future of Mizzou Engineering through his leadership and insight on the Dean’s Advisory Council.
Ron was one of Mizzou Engineering’s most honored alumni. He received the College’s Missouri Honor Award, the MU Engineering Alumni Organization’s Citation of Merit and, most recently in 2023, the Distinguished Service Award from the Mizzou Alumni Association. Each of these accolades reflects his extraordinary impact on the engineering profession, higher education and the success of future generations of engineers. In 2005, Ron and his wife Judy established the permanently endowed Ron and Judy Wood Engineering Scholarship Fund which has made a Mizzou Engineering education accessible to dozens of students and will continue to do so for years to come.
“Ron’s legacy is one of leadership, generosity and unwavering commitment to Mizzou,” said Dean Marisa Chrysochoou. “He inspired everyone around him and left an indelible mark on our college and the broader engineering community. He will be deeply missed.”
