Rowson honored with Bud Moulder Distinguished Alumni Award

Amber Rowson is an engineering, quality assurance, program management and auditing professional with extensive leadership on safety-critical systems and vehicles.

Amber Rowson, BS MAE ’99, was honored with the James E. “Bud” Moulder Distinguished Alumni Award March 12 in recognition of her distinguished service to Mizzou Engineering.

Rowson thanked her family for their support and her former professor, Noah Manring, now interim chair of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.

“Mizzou taught me how to think,” she said. “Mizzou taught me how to lead.”

President and CEO of Show Me Quality Consulting, Rowson is an engineering, quality assurance, program management and auditing professional with extensive leadership and experience on safety-critical systems and vehicles.

Rowson has more than 24 years of experience supporting NASA, Naval Sea Systems Command, the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Veterans Affairs Hospitals and various other Navy and contractor organizations.  

Since 2015, Rowson has served on the Industrial Advisory Committee Board for the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. She also serves on the Alumni Association Board of Directors, Flagship Council and the associated Political Action Committee. 

Rowson told alumni, students, faculty and staff at the awards banquet that, through her involvement, she had discovered “different ways that you can give back, and you see true benefit. I’ve learned so much about what the University of Missouri does for the students, the city, the state, the whole nation and the world.”
