Mizzou took first in performance, durability and 1,100-pound low-hook pull and fifth overall in the ASABE International Quarter Scale Tractor Student Design Competition.

The Torq’n Tigers A-Team took first place in performance at the 2026 American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) International Quarter Scale Tractor Student Design Competition May 31.
“The performance award is one the team has always strived for every year,” said team advisor Kent Shannon.
The team’s tractor, the Spirit of Columbia, also finished first in the 1,100-pound low-hook pull, first in durability and fifth overall among 23 teams.
“Teamwork and perseverance are two attributes that make this team successful, along with some patience and the attribute of setting goals,” Shannon said.
Team member Trevor Blanken, BS ME ’26, said the team had an advantage in that half the members were graduating seniors.
“We had four years of hands-on experience building a machine that performs well, and that really makes a difference,” he said.
A-Team members were Blanken, Braden Denning, Aidan Engbert, Andrew Kabrick, Jack Knop, Jacob Lakenburger, Evan Masterson and Avery Thomas.
The Torq’N Tigers are jointly housed within Mizzou Engineering and the Mizzou College of Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources.
