Brad Fingland, BSChE ’03, and Steve Lange, BSChE ’85, were inducted into the Chemical Engineering Academy of Distinguished Alumni at a ceremony Sept. 26.

Induction into the academy honors some of the most successful chemical engineering alumni of the University of Missouri. The academy serves to be a partner in the education of Mizzou students and help the university achieve national prominence in chemical engineering education.

“These alums have applied the skills and experience they acquired here at Mizzou to explore possibilities and unlock new solutions,” said Jennifer Fiegel, professor and chair of the Department of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering. “We are proud of their achievements and the examples they set for students of our department and of the college.”

As director of venture creation at the Michigan State University (MSU) Research Foundation, he leads startup formation for MSU physical-science technologies and mentors faculty founders, postdoctoral researchers, graduate students and startup executives. He received the U.S. Small Business Administration Tibbetts Award for contributions to startups.

Over a 35-year career at Procter & Gamble, Lange played a key role in developing raw materials and manufacturing processes for Pampers and Luvs diapers and provided technical consulting across many of the company’s flagship brands, including Always, Charmin, Puffs, Tide, Cascade, Olay, Oral B and Duracell. He retired in 2020 as a Research Fellow and is a co-inventor on 26 U.S. patents. He is currently the managing member of ProcessDev, LLC, a consulting firm he founded in 2020.

At the ceremony, inductees were introduced by Mizzou Engineering students Matthew McKean and Emily Anne Mowery.
