Internships

Gain real-world experience before graduation with an internship. Mizzou Engineering’s Career Services provides resume workshops, interview prep and other resources to help students obtain co-ops or internships at top companies. 

Competition and Events

Students regularly take part in hackathons and other competitive events across the globe. EECS students have won first place at the UM System’s Entrepreneur Quest (EQ) Student Accelerator Pitch Competition. They have also been finalists in Microsoft’s Imagine Cup World Competition and have attended the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing. 

MU Microelectronics Training Program

The MU Microelectronics Training Program offers a two-day intensive, experiential training for professionals eager to expand their expertise.

NSF Scholarship for Services (SFS) Program

The SFS scholarship is a prestigious scholarship funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) to sponsor excellent students to pursue study in the field of cybersecurity. Learn more here.

Student Organizations

Hone your leadership and communication skills, explore your interests and connect with peers through student organizations at the department, College or campus level. 

Additionally, the Computer Science Graduate Student Council and ECE Graduate Student Council give master’s and PhD students a voice in the department. 

Study Abroad

Gain a global perspective through Mizzou’s Study Abroad program. The department offers classes in summer Study Abroad sessions, allowing students to earn abroad experience while making progress towards their degrees.

Computer Recommendations

Undergraduates entering the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department may choose to bring or purchase a Mac or PC for coursework. Screens may be any size.

Computers may have 8GB, but if financially possible, a student should consider bringing or purchasing one with 16GB. Specific graphics cards are not required.

A minimum local storage of 160GB (SSD or HDD) is suggested and 250GB is recommended unless the student has plenty of additional space on a cloud service such as Drobox, OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.

A minimum of 2.2GHz Intel i5 Processor is suggested and a 2.4GHz Intel i7 Processor is recommended for either Mac or PC.
